Disaster has struck! I have no blancmange for the trifle. As you can see I have the box in the kitchen cupboard, but when I got a step to reach up and take it down, the box was full of sugar free jelly powder!
I had been shopping yesterday and had looked for some, but there was none to be found. When did blancmange become such a rarety?
I must have thrown the old sachets out when I went through the stuff in the cupboard. I think I noticed they had use by dates of 2016.
My plan now is to mix custard powder with a bit of cocoa. But it won’t be the same and I detest custard in trifles……
But I’m waiting for a call back from my sister. She may be able to save the day.
Meanwhile in other kitchen related news, my husband must have been a bit peckish last night and the peice of Stilton and a whole stollen loaf appear to have been eaten.. Only crumbs remaining…. Stollen and Stilton Stolen Shock horror!
When I got up this morning my husband had run a G gauge railway track across my new counters and cooker and was merrily sending a battery driven train backwards and forwards along it “to see if it works”. That combined with a bike in the bathroom because he had one stolen this week made me feel slightly annoyed. ..
I’m not very annoyed,
Not very angry,
Only slightly annoyed.
I’m not fuming, or hating,
Not loosing my temper,
Just a bit annoyed.
I understand his whims,
His eccentric dreams,
Just slightly annoyed….
Because he doesn’t ask, he assumes,
Because he does what he likes,
I’m slightly annoyed.
So he will move the track and train,
And I will not be annoyed,
Well that’s a strange little poem… the kitchen isn’t my territory, we do share it. But I want it to stay nice. Is that so wrong?
My kitchen and bathroom are almost finished after 2 and a half weeks of work…. I’m pleased with the blue colours I chose for the walls in the bathroom and the tiles in the kitchen.
I decided on two tones of tiles, a mid to dark blue tile complemented by a blue grey tile above. I wanted something which would work with the tone of pale green that I decided to have on the walls and the pale ivory cabinets. I also think the blue tiles tone in well with the wooden worktops. The green also compliments the foliage outside in the garden.
In the bathroom its bright blue with white fixtures and fittings. I wanted a colour that reminded me of beach holidays. There are no stripes but I feel like the colours are similar to beach huts on a bright sunny day.
I haven’t had the chance to have a new kitchen and bathroom before. I’m going to have to stop spending soon! I appreciate how lucky I am to get it done, but it has taken almost 25 years !
Are in my living room!
Its 10.21 am, and I am surrounded by “stuff” from the kitchen, pots, pans, plates, potatos, peas….ok enough p’s.. although I am a bit “peed” off.
We were promised that work would start today, well it was a bit of a vague promise along the lines of “all being well”. Being a little naive about these things I expected the workman to arrive, possibly very early, to begin the job. But having seen numerous tv make over programmes I guessed it might not happen. Especially after he didn’t answer his phone to me, so I have resorted to leaving text messages.
Having a husband with anxiety issues has made things doubly difficult. I cannot bin a lot of things because of his attachments to them. To be honest I’m also not able to let go of some things either. We have had to look at everything and decide what to keep and what to bin or give away. I’m posting photos …the heap of stuff is minus the bike parts which were in two of the cupboards.
What would you do in this situation?
Things were sorted out and we now have a starting date. I had assumed there was a problem when in actual fact it was a genuine mistake. However my excuse is that because of my husband’s anxiety things can seem far worse than they actually are.
The empty box at the front is for the cat!
