Oh to be a happy pear,
Sitting on an old blue stair.
Or an apple with a smile,
Laughing and joking all the while.
What a jape
To be a grape.
And even when the sun don’t shine,
Have a drink with lots of lime.
Maybe even eat a lemon
And then again a small persimmon.
But never ever be an orange,
Cause there’s no rhyme to go with it!
I took these photos in a friend’s garden 6 years ago (they came up on my Facebook feed) I am a nut about colour and some of these just zing!
I think I used a little digital camera with no added features to take these. I was just amazed how the reds and oranges stood out in the green.
I wish I could time travel back to those simpler times. But time flies, tempus fugit, and before you know it you are 6 years older and perhaps not wiser!
But in the meantime I’m going to enjoy browsing through these again…
Orange is sharp, orange is zesty, bright like the sun, full of sweetness.
Orange is clay, terracotta, rusty. Iron oxidized, turned into ochre.
Orange is fire, hot lava pouring, burning with heat, spitting out rocks.
Orange a mixture of red and of yellow, painting the sky in a deep sunset glow.
Orange is warmth and spice in food, saffron in rice, turmeric too.
Let Orange be free, paint with it, see –
It’s colour reminds me to be happy…
